Welcome back to our blog! Here at Lonnie’s, we are always talking about rings, styles, the history, the differences, the fads, what’s proper, what’s not. Jewelry is our passion and we are so happy we get to share that passion with our readers and customers. As a sort of thanks, this time on the blog we are using our time together to do something a bit different.

Albuquerque to do

A lot of our customers are people in love, buying treasures for their significant other. If you are in the process of woo’ing that significant other than you might need some date ideas. That’s where this blog will help you! Here are some of the wonderful events happening in Albuquerque in May!

Run for the Zoo

On May 6th from 7-10am the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo is having their 33rd annual Run for the Zoo! It’s a day of fitness and fun and the largest run in New Mexico! All ages and fitness levels can participate as there are runs ranging from 1-mile fun run, 5ks, 10k, or even a half marathon! Run for the Zoo is a fundraising effort that helps the BioPark Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden. Find out more at their site.

Da Vinci the Genius

Show off your culture at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science! This exhibit running daily until the end of July is the most complete travelling exhibit on Da Vinci ever put together! Don’t worry, you won’t need to be a Da Vinci expert to understand and enjoy this exhibit as its built for everyone, novices to expert and kids to adults. There are a number of interactive and activities for visitors to view or participate. This exhibit is put together with the Museo Leonardo da Vinci, French engineer Pascal Cotte and Rome! Admission is about $20, museum hours 9am-5pm.

Scavenger Hunt of Old Town

Teams of 1 to 10 players will crawl all over Old Town in a thrilling 2-hour scavenger hunt of Albuquerque’s oldest areas. You’ll learn history, tall tales, and urban legends of our city! Each team is given a packet of clues that range from easy to very difficult and takes them to a range of locations in Old Town, then you will answer a question related to the location to prove you’ve found it. The hunt costs $60, learn more at their website.

There are so many more events out there for you to see and enjoy, and we are sure you and your sweetheart will love them! We live in a magical city with dozens of museums, hundreds of breweries, clubs, nightlife and more, and there are hundreds of events every week, just search it out! You can find out more at Visit Albuquerque.

Once you’ve made the move and have someone you treasure, come on down and find something for them to treasure (in addition to you of course!) We hope you go out and enjoy all the things our city has to offer, we sure do. Next time on the blog we will get back to our familiar territory of beautifully crafted jewelry.
